A client bought this antique fence on EBay, with the intention of having it restored and installed at her home. The fence is constructed of genuine wrought iron, not modern mild steel, and had suffered from some neglect in its former life. Many of the elements were bent, and a number of the finials had broken or disappeared completely.
The fence was brought to our shop and repairs started. Bent sections were straightened, missing pieces were replaced with ones from an unusable section of the fence, and the old paint and rust were removed. The fence was reworked and resized to fit the new installation site.
Once repaired and cleaned, the fence received several coats of fresh paint.
The fence was then installed on a new granite curbing.
The curved sections of the fence were preserved and used to add variety and line to the new installation.
Existing components were used to fabricate a new car gate.
Also included were gates, which were restored and installed with the fence.
