Old fence This 19th century cemetery fence in Newfields, New Hampshire had fallen into disrepair after years of exposure to the elements. Oxidization had taken hold in the cracks and crevices, fractures had occurred along stress lines, and several elements in the fence had broken away and disappeared.
The first order of business was to remove the fence from its granite base and reset the stones, which had been heaved and displaced badly by frost and tree roots.
The fence was taken to our shop for repair. The missing pieces were recast, fractures repaired, rust removed, and the entire fence painted. The detail of the fine original castings were revealed as years of rust and paint were removed.
The fence was then reinstalled on the properly set granite and given a final coat of paint.
